Our story

THE STORY OF THE SYNAGOGUE

The place “Beit Moshe V Yacob Synagogue Foundation” is a sanctuary to worship G_D in an office building within a business district in the greater Van Nuys area, and the name “Beit Mosh e V Yacob Synagogue” is to honor two distinguish Persian born Jews men for the dedication to a Jewish life and family, Mr. Mousa Moshe Cohen AV & Mr. Nasser Jacob Merabi
Mr. Nasser Merabi summons his sons and his daughter to build a Sephardic Synagogue a sanctuary in the honor of their maternal grandfather who passed on in November of 2004. Nader, Kambiz, and Niloufar Merabi were delighted to build a synagogue where people can come to pray and learn.
Nader & Niloufar pour their support after Kambiz, and since Kambiz was moving from New York City to Los Angeles then he started this good deed by locating the space to build the synagogue near and in the same building as his office is located. Kambiz sought to foster among the Van Nuys Jewish community an abiding commitment to Halacha & Mitzvot, which represent the base of the foundation they were summoned to create and stand firmly for the position that The Beit Moshe V Yacob Sephardic Synagogue & Cultural CenterCenter is a part of a larger community.

Leave a legacy

We serve religious purposes, to provide a place of worship for everyone who needs a sanctuary to pray, to benefit the general public and the Van Nuys community. This foundation will be Conducting and leading daily prayers for participants who may enjoy the free services including bagel and coffee after morning prayers and soft beverage and cookie for afternoon prayers daily.

The Legacy

At the end the Torah, Moses and G-d anticipated the inheritance of the promised land by the Jewish people. As Moses near the conclusion of his life, he nervously cautioned and instructed the B’nai Israel as they prepared to enter Israel without him. He pleaded to G-d, and sought to ensure, that everything would go well, and that the people of Israel would care for this sacred inheritance appropriately.

Leave a legacy

Beith Moshe V Yacob’s Legacy Initiative: In 2021, The Beth Moshe V Yacob Synagogue of Greater Van Nuys observed its 10th anniversary. Founded by Mr. Nasser J Merabi, a visionary individual, our synagogue has thrived. We hope this great synagogue will flourish generation after generation.

Legacy of Giving

At Beth Moshe V Yacob our beliefs are: You can lead by example – and demonstrate your love, supporting and connecting to people around you. This will leave a legacy indefinitely.

A Message from Our Rabbi Benyomin A. Lieberman
Welcome to Beit Moshe V Yacob Community! Why a community rather than a congregation?
We believe Judaism is more than a religion.
For us, it is an ever-evolving way of life, encompassing history, literature, art and music, land and language. We are a community that actively engages in lifelong learning. We love our spirited Torah discussions during Shabbat morning services, our educational adult programs, and anytime we have text or a great topic that we can chew on together. On behalf of all of Beit Moshe V Yacob, welcome! Check us out here online and then come see us. Have any questions or just want to chat? Feel free to contact me. I look forward to meeting you soon! A Message from Our Rabbi Mordachi Azran
A Special Welcome from Rabbi Mordachi Azran.
We like to think of Beit Moshe V Yaccob as our own very special, Jewish corner in Van Nuys. As a rabbi my mission has always been to lead our members to a deeper love of Torah, G_D, Israel and L Dor VDor (From generation to generation). We are blessed with extraordinary members who are so caring and inspiring every day to pray and learn, along with other professionals who have made enhancing our members’ Jewish journey their life’s work.

SYNAGOGUE LEADERSHIP

We offer information to learn more about what the synagogue and it has accomplished over the two past years. “Leading us in this exceptional venture are the members of our board who…by their governance make certain that we do what our people has set out to do from our very beginning, that moment when we stood at Sinai…to make certain that we do what we can to make this creation to help the needy and this humanity, of which we are a part, even better.” A massage from our past president & chairman
Our Jewish house of worship is inspirational, and our diverse and devoted congregants have a legacy of service to the Jewish and secular communities especially our Van Nuys & Sherman Oaks.
Without forsaking this important heritage, Beit Moshe V Yaakov mission today is to build upon it, adopting the changes needed to remain relevant to the values and needs of our members, and community. The traditional richness of Biet Moshe V Yaakov’s worship services is combined with adopting today’s methods that is changing, it is offering of stimulating and relevant programs to attract the youths in our community. We are proud of our young Families group and many varied volunteer endeavors give us the opportunity to help neighbors in need. Our youth adds texture, joyousness and laughter to our days. This is an exciting time for us.

Prayer is our humble answer to the inconceivable surprise of living. It is all we can offer in return for the mystery by which we live. It is gratefulness that makes the soul great.
